Ep 70 – Don’t Try To Do It All At Once

Welcome to Episode 70 of The Marketing Drive with Chris Doelle.

This show applies not only to marketing but to well...anything. You don't always need to go 200% in on everything immediately. You can take things slower and learn things better or just ask a question, find the answer and stop there. You can't be an expert of everything you do.

This show is so named because I record it unscripted and unedited on my commute to work. When an idea pops in my head, I hit record. You get my off-the-cuff take on anything related to marketing your business. Be sure to send your show ideas and questions and I will use them for future shows!

This one maybe a stretch to even say it's about marketing but it applies to marketing. Actually it applies to anything you are doing worthwhile and it is that you don't have to eat the whole extra lot. What do I mean by that? I mean that let's say you have a marketing question, you go to a seminar, you go to a training, you picked up a book, you picked up a podcast like this and you go and yes, you may get your question answered in there but you may also get tons and tons of extra step and understand this podcast, especially if you have not been with us from the beginning, that you've just subscribed recently and there is 70 episodes of this out already. It's like draking a fire house. So, my recommendation to you is don't try to drink it all them right now. Don't eat the whole thing. I guess the example I used is the podcast and again it applies to any of other scenarios as well. When you go and you are looking for an answer to something on marketing, you grab this podcast, nice thing is you can skim the titles and order to the website and read the actual descriptions and get the answer to the thing you are looking for and then, a advise to stop, stop right there, go implement that item. Make sure you implement, then the last thing you wanna do is become an expert at all aspects of whatever your subject is. Again, in this, it's marketing,  I covered 70 items. Yes, there are still some dogtails where some things, I talk about similar things but overall it's a lot different things and if you just listen to all of that, you walk away going whatever I do because now I have, let's say 70. You'll go, okay now I have maybe 65 completely clear ideas that I got out of this 70 shows. Out of that, perhaps I remember, 15 of them and I have to choose what to implement, so don't do it. Make it simple, when you hear one thing, you wanna try out, go try it out, put it into practice, see if it gets you a return, measure the results, then when that one is in place, I may big fan of systems, you put that marketing strategy in motion, you should have system to make it continue, if you don't, well that's another argument for outsourcing that to somebody because none of these work if you do, one technique on week one, next week you do another technique, next week after that, then you do stuff of 3 different techniques, none of that is gonna work. So, again, take your bite, work on it, trust that it's gonna work or not work but measure it. See what the results are then try something else, come back to the feed and listen to the next show. I don't recommend "I got one idea, I don't need to know anything". That's silly but definitely don't try to do it all at once, go try to overnight, take your marketing from you casually mentioning to people what you do for a living, to 200,000 dollars a year, to 2 million dollars a year. That's silly, it's just not gonna happen. Unless you get extremely lucky. So put things into place, measure, and then put other things in the place and you the same thing applies to let's say you go to a conference, you are going to a conference to learn about a new thing that you need to know for your business or maybe again, I stick to marketing because this is what I know, you are going to a marketing conference and you are a air conditioning sales man. You go there, you get 2 or 3 good things, you don't have to stay for the whole thread. You don't have to completely check in and feel like I have to get my money's worth, I have to sit for all of these things because one, you walk away, your mind will be more jumbled, you work heavy, clear focus, so, same things with because, you are maybe reading a book coming through 3 chapters in, you find it jam. Something that  is going to help you immensely in you business or let's just assume it's going to. Put your bookmark in, put the book back on the show, don't worry, if you never go back to that book. It's not a big deal. Obviously, if you find out that works, go back to the book, after the system has been placed, go back to the book, see what else that it has to say. Same thing with this podcast, put it on place, you got one good idea, pause it, stop it. Let them do about, then go when it works, listen to them when you need to. Don't try to heat up if, you can't implement while these every week which I don't anybody can because the actual implementation is so much more work than the 10 minutes, I span, explaining it.
